Monday, November14: Visit in Lycée Stella Maris of Toamasina

Our Flight from Antananarivo to Toamasina lasted only 35 minutes. A reception committee led us straight to the airport lounge where a member of the students’ parents association, a Physics and Chemistry teacher in the school and BR Jean Noël, Director of the biggest Catholic High School of Madagascar were waiting for us. Stella Maris has 3000 students and 150 teachers. It gets almost every year the best results in the country official examinations. Lundi 14 novembre : Visite du Lycée Stella Maris de Toamasina

Notre vol d’Antananarivo à Toamasina dura seulement 35 mn de vol. Un comité d’accueil nous conduisit directement dans le salon de l’aéroport où nous attendaient un membre de l’association des parents d’élèves, un professeur de physique chimie de l’établissement et le Fr Jean Noël, directeur du plus grand lycée catholique de Madagascar. Stella Maris compte 3000 élèves et 150 enseignants. Il obtient pratiquement chaque année les meilleurs résultats aux examens officiels du pays. Un pagne traditionnel fut noué autour de la taille du Supérieur général et un chapeau lui fut offert par des hôtesses de circonstance… » Read more

Dimanche 13 novembre 2016 : clôture de la célébration des 150 ans de présence des Frères

Le samedi 12 novembre eurent lieu, dans le cadre de la clôture de la célébration des 150 ans de présence des Frères des Ecoles Chrétiennes à Madagascar, les finales de compétitions sportives opposant les élèves des différentes écoles lasalliennes… C’est toutefois la célébration eucharistique du dimanche 13 novembre qui constitua véritablement le sommet de cette célébration. Elle dura trois heures et demie d’horloge, de 9h à 12h 30, sur la colline de Soavimbahoaka tout autour du sanctuaire du bienheureux Fr Louis Rafiringa. La colline, flanquée de drapeaux (aux couleurs du Vatican, de l’Institut et du pays…) claquant au vent, et parcourue par une foule de gens (religieux, religieuses, choristes, élèves, membres de mouvements et associations divers) aux tenues variées, attirait de loin les regards. Sunday, November 13, 2016: Closing celebration of Brothers’ 150 years presence

On Saturday, November 12, in the context of the closing celebration of the 150 years of the Brothers of the Christian Schools’ presence in Madagascar, the finals sport competitions between students of different Lasallian Schools took place… It is however the Eucharistic Celebration on Sunday, November 13, that truly made up the summit of this celebration. It lasted three and a half hours, from 9:00 am to 12: 30 pm, on Soavimbahoaka hill around Blessed Br Louis Rafiringa’s shrine. The hill, flanked by flags (the colours of Vatican, of the Institute and of the country…) slamming in the wind, and crossed over by a crowd of people (religious, singers, students, members of the various movements and associations) with varied attires, attracted the eyes from afar.
