Visit of the General Councilor to the District of Gulf of Benin
After the RELAF Conference of Visitors last November in Abidjan, Brother Pierre Ouattara, General Councilor for the Region Africa and Madagascar, visited the District of Gulf of Benin. The visit took place from November 22 to December 8, 2014. With a well provided and adorned calendar, Brother Councilor visited the communities and works of the District of Gulf of Benin. Note that the District of Gulf of Benin consists of four countries (Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea and Togo). There is no need to tell you that it was a fighter race. But as a good Lasallian, fatigue has not been hold on his various trips that he made with Brother Paulin DEGBE, Visitor of the said district. He has visited Lomé, the provincial and student Brothers’ community of the District; the communities in Dapaong and Tami, in northern Togo; each with two schools and rural training center. He then visited the communities in Benin. First, in Bohicon, located in the center; then Akassato, in the south. The visit ended in Togoville, southern Togo. It providentially coincided with the perpetual profession of Brother Brice AKAGBO and the celebration of the golden jubilee of religious life of Brother Enrique CEPERO.
The visit to Conakry was postponed to a later date. Brother Pierre’s visit to our District was seen as Jesus’ encounter with Zacchaeus. Exchanges with the Brothers, Lasallian educators and students were the highlights where there seen strongly contemporary echo of the express recommendation of the founder, “always maintain a true spirit of community.” Brother Pierre Ouattara, thank you for the joy, friendship and brotherhood that we all watered. May God help us to burn them to the stones where no wind can erase. May God grow your mission through the intercession of Saint John Baptist de La Salle.
